How Green Tea can Help Weight Loss

Green Tea Weight Loss...
There are many many benefits to drinking green tea or taking green tea products, but by far one of the most popular things people search for in green tea is its ability to speed up the metabolism and aid in weight loss.

How Does Green Tea Work?
Green tea has within its chemical compound what are called polyphenols, or otherwise known as plant chemicals. Some of these polyphenols are known as catechins, and by far the most beneficial of these is called Epigallocatechingallate, or shortened, EGCG.

EGCG? Huh?
It is this EGCG that reacts with the body, and increases your bodys own thermogenic properties, meaning the bodys metabolism speeds and it will burn more calories even while at rest. It is this thermogenic effect that most search for in green tea diet supplements. EGCG can be found in other types of tea as well, but green tea has by far the most EGCG. This is due to the way in which it is processed as compared to other teas.

How is Green Tea Different?
Some teas are bruised or fermented after the leaves are picked, which give them a darker color. These processes also reduce the amount of good chemicals within the tea leaves. This is why green tea leaves have the most "good stuff" out of all types of tea, along with white tea, which is just a younger version of the green tea leaf.

Green Tea Products...
There are many different green tea products on the market that take advantage of the fact that people are searching for something to help with weight loss, but many are junk products that only seek the money of those foolish enough to buy the first thing they see or read about. It is ultimately up to the seeker of good green tea weight loss products to do proper research before buying.

How Much??
The usual amount of green tea that needs to be ingested to receive the benefits is around 2 or 3 cups per day. Also, if you buy any standardized green tea extract, 200-300mg per day should give the same green tea benefits as drinking regular cups.

Other Benefits???
There are many other great benefits to green tea, including its antioxidant effects, and its ability to help heal the body and prevent certain types of diseases. It has been studied, and determined that green tea may help prevent heart disease, stroke, cancer and diabetes.
